SUBSTANTIAL JURY VERDICT AGAINST INSURANCE COMPANY

January 2011

The firm obtained at $112,500 jury verdict against MetLife Insurance Company on behalf of a client injured in a motorcycle accident in Tennessee. The client suffered two broken wrists when a truck pulling an attached trailer pulled out in front of him. The client settled his claims with the truck driver’s insurance company, but the settlement proceeds were insufficient to fully compensate the client for his injuries. The firm then filed suit against the client’s own insurance company seeking underinsured motorist coverage to provide the client with additional compensation over and above the truck driver’s insurance policy limits. At trial, the jury entered a verdict in the client’s favor, providing him with additional compensation for his injuries.
