Jury Verdict in Favor of Client for Trespass and Damage to Timber and Land

May 2017

The firm obtained a jury verdict in favor of a landowner in Lauderdale County, Alabama. The client owned property that had been in his family for several decades. An adjoining landowner acquired property immediately south of the client’s land through a tax sale deed. The adjoining landowner failed to determine the boundaries of his property, which resulted in the adjoining landowner bulldozing several acres of land belonging to the client, destroying valuable timber, and altering the terrain of the client’s property. After a three-day trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the client and against the adjoining landowner, and awarded the client substantial damages for his losses.
